1 c butter
1 lb. brown sugar (2 1/4 cups)
dash salt
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 c light corn syrup
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in heavy 3-qt. pan. Add sugar, salt & cream of tartar. Stir thoroughly, then add corn syrup. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Cook & stir over medium heat to soft ball stage, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat,stir in vanilla. Pour into buttered 9"x9"x2" pan. Cool and cut into squares. Wrap individually in waxed paper.
