Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
We all enjoyed making taffy alot when the kids and grandkids were young. Until, when one summer, when Sarah was young, she wanted to make it yellow and mistook the freshly poured out taffy for the butter and burned the tips of all ten of her fingers. Needless to say, it was a long time before I would let anyone else make Taffy at my house again, because Sarah Jane ended up having blisters on all of her fingers and was helpless for about a month while they healed. -- Velma.
And Grannie will never completely recover from that incident. -- Sarah
Now, as a mother, looking back, Had I been her....I would have cringed each time someone said "Granny can we make Taffy?" The icky, sticky mess.....Granny, of course, never once hesitated. She'd just grab the ingredients and get started. Taffy pulling is by far one of my fondest memories of childhood. -- Kim
