Cookie Dough:
1/2 c. Margarine or Butter
1/4 c. Brown Sugar, packed
1 Egg, Separated
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1 c. Flour
1/4 tsp.Salt
Decorations:
Finely Chopped Nuts
Shredded Coconut
Confectioners Sugar Icing
Peanut M&Ms

Directions:
Directions:
Cream Butter & Sugar well. Stir in Egg Yolk & Vanilla. Add Flour & Salt. Mix well. Roll teaspoons of dough into balls. Beat Egg Whites and roll dough balls in whites, then roll in nuts, or coconut or combination of nuts and coconut. Bake cookies at 350º 5 Minutes, push thumbprint in each cookie then bake 5 more Minutes - Do Not Brown. Cool and store in airtight container.

Top each cookie with 1 tsp. buttercream icing and top with a Peanut M&M.

This recipe is easy to multiply and I recommend it; I usually Quadruple it. The cookies freeze well, the dough freezes well, but I recommend freezing before frosting. For those that do not like nuts or coconut, the cookies can be made without and just frost. A family Holiday Cookie favorite shared with us by Ida Mae Varga in the 70s.
