1 box (18.25 oz.) classic yellow cake mix
1/3 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 egg

Reserved 2/3 c. dry cake mix
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1-1/2 c. dark corn syrup
1 t. vanilla
3 eggs
1 c. chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350. Grease 13"x9" baking pan with shortening or nonstick cooking spray. Reserve /3 c. of the dry cake mix for filling.
In large bowl beat remaining dry cake mix, butter, and one egg with electric mixer on low speed until well blended. Press in bottom of pan.
Bake 15-20 minutes or until light golden brown.
Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, beat reserved 2/3 c. dry cake mix, brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla and 3 eggs on low speed until moistened. Beat on medium speed one minute or until well blended.
Pour filling over warm base; sprinkle with pecans. Bake 30-35 minutes longer or until filling is set. Cool completely in pan on cooling rack, about 45 minutes. Store in refrigerator.
