"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Directions:
Make base as pastry for pie. Divide dough in half and pat into two long strips (12x3") about 3" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. For topping, mix butter and water. Bring to rolling boil. Add flavoring and remove from heat. Stir in flour vigorously to keep from lumping. When smooth and thick, add eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth each time. Divide in half and spread evenly over each piece of unbaked pastry. Bake 350º about 60 minutes (lightly browned). Frost with powdered sugar mixed with a bit of water and sprinkle with sliced almonds. Always a hit when serving a special "Tea" or morning coffee.
