6 pounds fresh string beans (or frozen Trader Joe’s French string Beans)
6 large Vidalia onions
1 stick butter

1/4-1/2 cup sesame oil
1/2 cup canola oil
1 1/2 cups soy sauce
3 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons dijon mustard
Pepper to taste

Carmelize the onions in butter until soft and brown. Patience required and possibly two batches.

Combine all ingredients for marinade.

Using 1 pound at a time place string beans on cookie sheet. Toss with some of the marinade and broil until beans are browned at the edges

When you have finished broiling the beans – toss with carmelized onions and enjoy!
