Notes: This is a family favorite and has been cooked in Otto households as long as we remember. Every Saturday at the Rolland and Dorothy Otto's. This particular recipe for saurkraut is an East European version of preparation. Makes sense since the Otto's came from Posen, Prussia. My mom Jean Otto Simons made this at least twice a month, if not more. My grandfather Rolland G. Otto cried the first time I served him this in my own home. He was thrilled that this recipe was being carried on.He even drank up the soup left in the pot!
