2 cups peaches
1 tablespoon cornstarch or flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup peach juice
1 cup sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1/4 cup blanched almonds (optional)
1/3 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
place peaches in sprycoated 6X10" baking dish. sprinkle cornstarch over fruit. combine sugar, salt and peach juice and pour over peaches. meanwhile, make cobbler dough. sift flour, baking powder, salt, sugar together. cut in shortening fine...add almonds; mix well. add milk stirring with fork into soft dough. drop dough by spoonfuls on peaches and sprinkle with sugar. bake in hot oven, 375 degrees F for 40-45 minutes. serve warm with 'dip'..makes 6-8 servings.
*cherry cobbler, use red pitted cherries and cherry juice
