Onions, preferably Vidalia
Butter to taste
Salt, pepper, and lemon juice to taste

Directions:

Heat oven to 400º.

Slice top off onions, leaving the rest whole.
Place onions in baking pan with 2 tablespoons of water.
Cook for 45 minutes or until the onions are tender.

Remove the skins and season with salt, pepper, butter, and lemon juice.

I love this dish. It is not only easy, but absolutely delicious. I first saw a version of it in a Julia Child's cookbook and have used it for years.
