Beat following until fluffy:
1/2 c. (1stick) of butter, softened
1 c. light brown sugar
3 tbsp. granulated sugar

Add:
1 lg. egg
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Sift together, add to mixture:
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Stir in:
1 1/2 c. chocolate chips
1 1/2 tsp. instant espresso powder

Bake 20 minutes @ 325ºF. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before removing to cooling rack. Serve warm or store in airtight container.
