Single Crust:
1 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
4 - 5 tbs. cold water

Double Crust:
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
5 - 7 tbs. cold water

Pie Filling:
6 - 8 tart apples, peeled, cored & sliced
3/4 - 1 c. sugar
2 tbs. flour
2 tbs. butter
1/2 - 1 tsp. cinnamon
dash nutmeg

Directions:

Crust:
Mix flour and salt, add shortening and cut in until size of small peas. Gradually add water until all is moistened.

Filling:
Mix all ingredients except butter and fill 9" pie shell. Dot with butter. Adjust top crust, cut slits for steam and sprinkle with sugar.

Bake 400" for 50 minutes.
