4 T butter, melted
1/2 to 1 loaf soft white bread, crusts removed
2 cups milk
1 tsp. salt
dash Tabasco
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
6 eggs
1 lb. (or more) shredded cheese (Havarti, Brie,etc.)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk together milk, salt Tabasco,nutmeg and eggs until well combined. Set aside.

Brush butter over one side of bread (butter only a few slices at a time). Arrange the bread in a single layer in a baking dish. Add some of the cheese (divide evenly between the layers). Repeat until dish is almost filled. Slowly pour egg mixture over the bread and cheese layers. Let stand until the liquid is absorbed (about 30 minutes).
Bake for 30 minutes or until gold and bubbly. Serve immediately.
