2/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together. Add unbeaten egg, vanilla, and beat together. Sift flour and add salt and baking powder. Add those ingredients with milk to the creamed shortening and sugar mixture, mixing thoroughly. Pour into a 9x9 inch pan, well oiled and floured. Bake at 375º for 35 minutes.
