Directions: |
Directions:If you are making this in the summer go to the garden and pick several good tomatoes, not too ripe and not too green. Put some of that same grease or lard if that is what is handy, in that same iron pot. Let that get really hot. Put some of the flour from the old flour barrel into the grease. (If it is summer and you have fresh tomatoes) do the following: Cut up several tomatoes and put in the flour and grease while the flour is browning. Then go to the pantry and get a jar of the tomatoes that you canned last year, and pour into the pot. Let this simmer for about 10 minutes. If it is winter, then just use those tomatoes that you have canned. They are in the pantry where you stores all those jars of vegetables and fruits. Make sue that you put some salt and pepper in the gravy while it is simmering.
Make some biscuits and you have a great meal.
This was Herman's favorite when he came to the house to see me and to eat. __________________________________________ Do You remember? "The green Army Blankets" No matter how many sheets were between those those blankets and me I seemed to get hives". |
