1/2 c. barley
1/2 stick butter
1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 medium chopped onion
1 clove garlic, diced
1/2 c. tamari sauce (find in the Asian food aisle)

Directions:
Directions:
Pour 6 cups of water in a sizeable pot, adding 1/2 c. of barley.
Cover and allow to cook on low heat for 20 minutes. Meanwhile,
gently saute mushrooms and onions in the melted butter, adding
garlic to taste. Gently stir this mixture into the pot of barley, then
spoon in 1/2 c. of tamari sauce. Simmer for 15 minutes to allow
flavors to mellow. This soup will add a rich, earthy aroma to your
kitchen.
