1/2 cup Crisco shortening
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp.vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
TOPPING:

1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup chopped nuts, such as walnut(optional)
1 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together shortening and sugar; beat until blended. Add eggs, one at a time and beat well (this is key). Add buttermilk and flour, baking soda and baking powder. Mix well. Grease and flour two 9x5 loaf pans. Divide the gooey dough in half, divide that dough in half to fill the bottom of each pan. Combine the topping ingredients and sprinkle half on the dough in the pans. Put the rest of the divided in half again dough on top and sprinkle with the rest of topping. Take a knife and swirl topping ingredients through dough, using a wavy motion to create a marbling effect. Repeat a couple of times.

Bake for 1 hour. Let sit 15 minutes, remove from pans and allow to cook.
