1 lb. smoked polish kielbasa
1 lb. dried split peas
6 c. water
1 c. carrots, chopped
1 c. onion, chopped
1 c. celery, chopped
1 tbsp. fresh parsley, minced
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. coarse black pepper
2 bay leaves

Cut sausage in half lengthwise; cut into 1/4 in. pieces. Place in a soup kettle; add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until peas are tender. Remove bay leaves before serving.
