3/4 c, butter
3/4 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 T. evaporated milk
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. flour

Caramel Filling
25 caramels
1/4 c. evaporated milk
1/4 c. powdered sugar
1 c. chopped pecans.

Chocolate Icing:
1 c. chocolate chips
1/3 c. evaporated milk
2 T. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. powdered sugar.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter; gradually add 3/4 c. powdered sugar; cream well. Add vanilla, evaporated milk and salt. Mix well. Blend in flour. (Chill if necessary for easier handling.)
Roll dough, half at a time, on floured surface to 12 x 8 rectangle. Cut into 3 x 1 1/2” rectangles or cut with cookie cutter. (Grandma Marie usually made diamond shapes.) Bake at 325º for 12 –16 minutes until lightly browned. Cool.

Caramel Filling
Combine in double boiler: caramels and evaporated milk. Heat until caramel melts. Stir in powdered sugar and chopped pecans.

Chocolate Icing:
Melt chocolate chips and evaporated milk. Add butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar.

Spread cookies with 1 tsp. caramel filling, 1/2 tsp. icing and pecan half.
