2 gal. peeled and sliced large cucumbers (cut seeds out)
2 c. dry lime
4 c. white vinegar
1 tsp. powdered alum
1 to 2 tsp. red food coloring
10-11 c. sugar
2 tsp. whole cloves (optional)
8 to 10 sticks cinnamon
1 12 oz. pkg. red hot candies

First Day
Remove seeds from peeled and sliced large cucumbers.
Combine lime and 2 gals. water. Let stand 24 hours.

Second Day
Drain and wash well. Let stand in cold water 1 to 3 hours. Drain, add 2 c. vinegar, alum, food coloring and enough water to cover all. Simmer 2 hours. Drain. Make syrup of 2 c. water, 2 c. vinegar, cinnamon sticks and red hots. Boil. Pour over cukes, let stand over night.

Third Day
Pack pickles in jars. Heat syrup again and seal.
