Italian Beef Recipe

6 lb. beef roast (round, rump, or sirloin)
3 large onions, sliced
1 T. salt
1 large carrot, sliced
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
1/4 tsp. basil

Place beef in roasting pan half filled with water. Sprinkle meat with salt, pepper, and marjoram. Lay sliced onion over meat and into water. Add sliced carrot into the water. Cover pan and bake at 350 deg. for 3 to 4 hours. Refrigerate overnight - save all broth. Next day slice meat thin. Bring broth to boil; remove onions and carrots. Add seasonings and simmer 5 minutes. Place sliced meat into broth, covering all slices with broth. Cover and heat at 350 until hot. Serve with French or Italian bread.
