8 egg whites
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 1/2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp almond extract
Frosting:
2 pounds powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter
16 ozs cream cheese, softened
1 Tbsp almond extract
1 cup toasted almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg whites until they hold peaks. Cream butter and sugar together. Sift flour and baking powder together. To the butter mixture, alternate the flour and milk. Fold in the egg whites and extract. Pour into greased and floured pans. Bake at 350º for 25 to 30 minutes, until slightly brown.
Combine ingredients for frosting and frost cooled cake.
