1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening
1 cup molasses
1 egg
3 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1/2 cup of boiling
water
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cloves
5 cups flour
Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg, mix well.
Add remainder of ingredients.

Bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes.
