"Plain fresh bread, its crust shatteringly crisp. Sweet cold butter. There is magic in the way they come together in your mouth to make a single perfect bite."--Ruth Reichl

1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped parsley
2 cups chopped onions
6 cloves garlic, minced
3 lbs. ground beef or turkey
1/4 cup Worchestershire sauce
2 (29 oz.) cans tomato sauce
3 (12 oz.) cans tomato paste
1/2 (46 oz.) cocktail vegetable juice
1 1/2 tbsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. dried oregano
Dash cinnamon
1 tbsp. vinegar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 bay leaves

Combine oil, parsley, onions, garlic and meat in a large roaster. Cook and stir till meat is no longer pink. Mix in remaining ingredients. (I transfer to a LARGE crock pot). Slow cook 3 hours or bake at 300 for 3 hours stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaves and serve over warm noodles. This makes a large amount but it freezes well.
