3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter
2 egg yolks-reserve whites in a separate bowl
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1 cup diced walnuts
jar of your favorite jelly or jam

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325º.
2.Combine sugar, salt, butter, egg yolks, and vanilla-beat well.
3. Gradually add flour and mix well.
4. Shape into 1" ball.
5. Roll each ball in the reserved egg whites and then in the diced walnuts.
6. Place on greased cookie sheet and press your thumb gently in the center of each.
7. Bake on center rack for 8-10 minutes until the bottom of each is a light golden brown.
8. Remove from the baking sheet and place on parchment paper or tin foil and fill the center of each with your favorite jam or jelly.
