1/2 c. Shortening [butter-flavored Crisco preferred]
1 c. Sugar
2 Beaten Eggs
1 1/2 c. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Powder
Pinch Salt
1/2 c. Milk
1/2 c. Chopped Nuts [your choice]
Topping Ingredients:
Juice of 1 Lemon
1/2 c. Sugar
Grated Zest of the Lemon

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat Oven to 350 degrees. Cream together Shortening and Sugar, Add beaten Eggs, Stir together Flour, Baking Powder, Salt in a separate bowl. Add dry ingredients to Sugar mixture alternating with Milk. Fold in Lemon Zest and Nuts. Pour into greased and floured Loaf Pan and bake in pre-heated oven for 35-40 minutes. While bread is baking mix Topping Ingredients together. Remove baked bread from the oven, pour topping mixture over while still warm.
