1/2 c. butter or shortening
1 egg
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 c. sugar

Not for cookie mixture:
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon


Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together in large mixing bowl. Add egg. Sift remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover with a plate and chill for 1 hour. Heat oven to 400º. Mix 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon on small plate. Roll small amount of dough in sugar mixture and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until brown on the edges.
