1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
grated rind of 1 lemon

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the above ingredients together. Add milk alternately with the dry ingredients. Pour batter into a buttered loaf pan. Bake at 350º for 1 hour, until tests done. Remove from oven and pierce the surface with a pick to make small holes. Combine 1/4 cup sugar and juice of 1 lemon and pour over the bread. Cool on wire rack.
