12 eggs
2 sticks (1 cup) of butter or margarine
6 tsp. of baking powder
2 shots of anisette
2 cups of sugar
1/2 cup of oil
1 orange skin (grated finely)
3 1/2 lb. of flour
1 egg
1 tsp. water

Directions:
Directions:
Grate orange rind and combine with softened butter and sugar. Mix well. Add eggs, anisette and oil. Mix well.

Add baking powder to flour. Mix remaining ingredients.

Divide into several loaves. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2-3 hours until the dough is firm.

Preheat the oven to 350º F. Roll the dough into long, narrow pipes about 12 inches long and 1/3 inch in wide in diameter. Take 2 pipes and braid them into long pieces. You can also make a round wreath cookie out of the braided pieces.

Beat the egg and water together to make an egg wash. Brush the egg wash onto the cookie dough.

Place dough on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 30-35 minutes.
