Oriental Ramen Slaw Recipe

1 head cabbage, shredded (6 cups)
4 green onions, chopped
1/2 c water chestnuts, sliced
2 T sesame seeds or sunflower seeds
3/4 C slivered almonds
1 pkg Ramen chicken flavor noodles

1 pkg seasoning from noodles
1/4 c sugar
1/2 c oil
1/3 c vinegar
1 ts soy sauce
1 ts salt

Toast sesame seeds, almonds and crushed dry noodles in 350 oven until browned; or heat in large fry pan w/2 T salad oil or butter and toast by stirring until browned. Cool.

Mix dressing. Toss in a large bowl w/cabbage, onions and water chestnuts. Let sit several hours or over night. Just before serving, mix cabbage and toasted ramen noodle mixture. Serve cool or at room temperature.
