1/2 c. shortening,
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed,
1 tsp. salt,
1 tsp. cinnamon,
1/2 tsp. nutmeg,
1/4 tsp. cloves,
1 large egg,
Beat until mixture is blended and fluffy. Then Add:

2 c. flour,
1 tsp. baking soda,
1/4 c. milk,
2 c. finely chopped raw apples,
1 c. chopped nuts,
1 c. raisins,

Directions:
Directions:
Stir until all ingredients are well mixed to a moderately thick dough. Using a tablespoon, spoon dough in mounds about an inch apart onto lightly greased baking sheets. Bake for 10- 12 min in 400º oven. Remove from baking sheets to wire cake racks and while still warm spread tops with vanilla glaze. Cool thoroughly before storing. When storing cookies place waxed paper between layers.

Vanilla Glaze:
Stir together until smooth.
1 c. powdered sugar,
1/2 tsp. vanilla,
1 tbl. melted butter,
1 1/2 tbl. hot milk
