1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups flour
3 or 4 very ripe bananas
1/2 cup walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350º F.
Cream the butter, add the sugar and mix, then add remaining ingredients and bake for 1 hour (check to see if done with a toothpick in the middle--if it is dry, it is done!).
