When planning a menu, remember to use foods that are good for you. Build your meals around the basic food groups (grains, fruits, vegetables, low fat dairy, lean meats, poultry & fish, and nuts, seeds, and beans) plus use a minimal amounts of healthy oil such as canola or olive oil. Using the food groups and a healthy oil will provide optimum nutrition for Scouting activities.

For more information on the modern food groups and food pyramid, including calculating your personal best blend of the food groups, please see www.mypyramid.gov. My Pyramid is based on the most current USDA food guide. After you complete the information accurately about your gender, age, height, weight, and physical activity, it will tell you how many calories you need, how many recommended servings of each food group are best for you, and other helpful information.
