2 qt (8 cups) chicken broth
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or chicken tenders
1 bay leaf- fresh or dried
2 medium carrots, peeled and chopped or thinly sliced
2 ribs celery chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 cup star shaped egg pastina pasta
ground pepper to taste

In large pot, heat 4 cups broth to boil. Add chicken and bay leaf, and simmer, covered, about 8 mins. Add vegetables as you chop them. Remove chicken after 8 min and place on a cutting board to cool.

Add second quart of broth to the pot and bring to boil. Add pasta and cook 6 min. Remove from heat. Dice chicken, add to pot, and season with pepper to taste. Remove bayleaf. If soup is too thick, add 2 cups water for desired consistency.
