5 lbs sugar (12 cups)
1 lbs butter
2 T lard
4 lbs dark Karo syrup
1 pint sour cream
1 pint sweet cream
1 pint milk
7 T baking powder
3 tsp cloves
2 T nutmeg
2 T cinnamon
1 T pepper
1/2 T anise
1 tsp cardamom
2-3 T salt
flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix in order listed. Add enough flour to make a very stiff dough.
Roll in sausage-like rolls and put in refrigerator to set.
Slice in 1/4 inch pieces and bake in 350º oven until barely brown on the edges.

This makes a very LARGE batch. I usually make only half a batch because it is so hard to mix. If I remember, a full recipe is almost too much for the Bosch mixer.
