1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup margarine
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp water

2 3/4 cups all purpose flour blend (gluten free) + 1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Cream together first 6 ingredients. Stir in remaining ingredients.
Preheat oven at 375. Mix all ingredients as indicated. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet, 2" apart. Bake 8 - 10 minutes or until light brown. Allow to cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.
