1 cup sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cups diced apples
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1.2 tsp. cinnamon
1.2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten egg. Mix well. Add diced apples, nuts and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients and stir until mixed well. Pour into a greased 8x8 baking pan. Bake 35-40 minutes at 350º. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream or cold with whipped cream. 6-8 servings.
