1 cup flour, 2&1/4 cups quick oatmeal uncooked, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1&1/2 sticks butter at room temperature, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar, 1 egg, 1/4 cup milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 350º; grease 1 or 2 baking sheets. In a medium-size bowl, stir or whisk together the flour, oatmeal, baking soda, and salt.
2. In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Add the egg, milk, and vanilla and beat again. Gradually add the flour mixture, blending well after each addition. Stir in the chocolate chips.
3. Drop the dough by level tablespoons 2 inches apart onto the prepared baking sheet.
4. Bake for 12-13 minutes until lightly browned and crisp on the edges. Let the cookies cool for 1 minute on the baking sheet then transfer to wire racks to finish cooling.
