1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 cups finely chopped rhubarb (fresh or frozen)
Topping:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 tbsp. cold butter
Sauce:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup evaporated milk or cream or just milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first 7 ingredients together and pour into a greased 13 x 9 inch pan.
Combine ingredients for topping and cut in butter-should be crumbly. Sprinkle over cake.
Bake at 350 for 35-40 min.
For sauce, mix in sauce pan over low heat until bubbly.
Serve over cake.
