"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

Harco Ice Cream used to make a dessert called a cho cho. It was a frozen ice cream, chocolate malted flavored, that was served in a Dixie cup with a popsicle stick. The best way to eat it was to rub the cup between you hands to warm the ice cream up enough to remove it from the cup and then lick as fast as you could before the sun melted the dessert. YUM! Harlan used to have a baker (Bunny Bread) and sold their bread fresh from the oven. Dad and Mom used to stop and buy a couple of loves as a special treat for dinner. Unfortunately, we'd only have one loaf when we got home, along with a few crumbs. Can you blame us? Imagine riding home in a car with fresh bread tempting you. I tried to buy fresh bread from the Kerns bakery in Knoxville, they won't sell it to me!
