1 c. all purpose flour
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. shortening, melted
1 c. finely chopped nuts (optional)
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 c. cocoa
1 1/4 c. hot water

Directions:
Heat oven to 350º. Measure flour, granulated sugar, 2 tbsp. cocoa, baking powder, and salt into a bowl. Blend in milk and shortening. Stir in nuts. Pour in ungreased square pan 9x9x2 in. Stir together brown sugar and 1/4 cocoa. Sprinkle over batter. Pour Hot water over batter. (DO NOT STIR). Bake 45 min. While hot serve into dessert dishes and spooning sauce from bottom of pan. Serve with whip cream or ice cream.
