1 tsp. anise extract

Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time beating after each addition and reserving one yolk. Add remaining ingredients and mix well at medium speed of electric mixer.
Form dough into flattened logs, 2" wide by 1/2" high on parchment lined baking sheets. Beat together the remaining yolk and 1 Tablespoon of milk. Brush over tops.
Bake in a preheated 375º oven 20 min. When cool enough to handle, use a serrated bread knife to slice diagonally into 1" slices. Place on a baking sheet and toast 5 min. on each side at 325º.

Personal Notes:
I changed the amount of extracts and oil until I got the taste I liked. (The original recipe indicated that you may substitute anisette liquor for the anise extract by increasing to 1 Tablespoon but I haven't tried that.)
