"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Directions:
Heat oil in a frying pan until shimmering. Place flour, salt and pepper in a shallow dish and mix well. Dredge steak in flour mixture on both sides and place in frying pan. Brown steak on both sides
and place in a crock pot. Add 2-3 tablespoons of flour to the frying pan. Brown the flour in the pan. Once the flour is brown, add the water, stirring to scrape any bits off the bottom and side of the pan. Cook until the gravy starts to thicken (add more water if necessary if you prefer the gravy to be thin). Remove from heat and pour over the steak in the crock pot. Add enough water to cover the steak. Cook on high for 3 hours or on low for 6 to 8 hours.
