1/2 c milk
1 T vinegar
1 stick of butter
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 c water
2 c sugar
2 c flour
2 beaten eggs
1 1/2 tsp baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Add vinegar to milk and set aside.

In pan, melt butter, chocolate, and water. Remove from heat and add sugar. Stir to dissolve. Add flour and eggs and mix well. Add baking soda to milk and mix well then add this to chocolate mixture and mix well. Bake at 350º.

This is the cake we grew up with. It's wonderful and we'd often begin to eat it before Mom had a chance to frost it. When she did frost it she used a white buttercream frosting.
