Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 c. water
3 T. flour or pastry flour
1 T. cornstarch
1 T. sugar
1/4 t. almond extract (or vanilla extract)
pinch sea salt
1/4 t. cinnamon
2 T. coconut oil (Spectrum is a good brand) melted
1/4 t. turmeric
sliced French bread, the more "holey" the better

Directions:
Directions:
Puree all ingredients except the bread in a blender. Place in a sauce or saute pan and heat while whisking until mixture thickens. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Place slices of bread in the batter to soak. Heat a skillet and coat with a little more coconut oil, then brown the slices on each side.
Serve with real maple syrup. Also delicious when sprinkled with chopped walnuts or pecans, or sliced almonds. And in the summer, it's very refreshing to top with mixed fresh fruit like berries and bananas.
