6 cups thinly sliced cucumbers
1/4 cup coarse Kosher salt
2 large onions, sliced
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups cider vinegar
1 tsp celery seed
2 tsp mustard seed
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp turmeric

Directions:
Directions:
Wash and slice the cucumbers. Layer with salt and onion slices. Top with a handful of ice cubes, and let stand for at least 3 hours. Mix the remaining ingredients in a large pot, bring slowly to the boil and boil 5 minutes. Meanwhile, boil 4 pint jars and put caps and lids in a pan of water that has been boiled and removed from the heat. Drain the vegetables in a colander, and rinse well with cold water. Add to the hot syrup and heat to just below the boiling point. Spoon into hot, sterilized jars and seal Process in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes.
