50 lite caramels (14oz. package)
1/2 c. evaporated milk
2 c. flour
2 c. quick cooking oats
1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter, melted
1 c. chocolate chips

Melt caramels and evaporated milk in heavy saucepan (cool slightly). Combine remaining ingredients except chips in large bowl. Press half of crumb mixture into bottom of greased 13 x 9 in. pan. Bake at 350º for 10 min. Then remove from oven. Sprinkle with chips and spread carefully with caramel mixture. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes longer or until golden brown. Chill 1 to 2 hours and then cut into bars.
