1/2 tsp. Minced Garlic
1/3 c. Chopped Onion
1 Can 28 oz. Crushed Tomatoes
1 Can 6 oz. Tomato Paste
1 tsp. Salt
1 Egg
1/8 tsp. Ground Pepper
1 tsp. Dried Basil Leaves
1-15 oz. pkg. Ricotta Cheese
8 oz. Mozzarella Cheese
1/8 tsp. Ground cloves or Nutmeg
1-8-oz. pkg. Mostacciolli or ziti, cooked

In large saucepan, heat the oil over medium high heat. Saute onion and garlic until onion is soft and gold; stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, basil and 1/2 tsp. salt. Bring to boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 20 min. Stir occasionally. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In medium bowl, mix cheeses, egg, cloves and remaining 1/2 tsp. salt. Cover bottom of a 2-1/2 quart rectangular baking dish with about 1 cup of tomato mixture. Put about half of the pasta on top. Cover with half of the cheese. Repeat. Top off with the remaining cheese mixture and sauce. Bake 20-25 min. until the sauce is bubbling and the cheese is well melted.
