1 cup shortening (butter, Crisco or marg.)
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups oatmeal
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups flour
1 tsp. vanilla
(May add nuts, raisins, dates, etc.)

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, blend sugars and shortening. Add eggs, blending well. Stir in vanilla. In separate bowl, sift together the flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Stir in dry oatmeal. Gradually stir dry ingredients into the large bowl until well mixed. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-13 min at 350 degrees.
