3 cups flour
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 lb. butter
1/4 lb Crisco
6 tsp. milk
4 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
1/ 2/3 lb. apricot preserves
4 egg whites
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 lb. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and fat like you would for pie crust. Add milk, egg yolks and vanilla. Mis well. Pat into an 11 x 8 pan. Spread apricot jam on top. Bake 350º for 25 minutes. Make meringue from whites and sugar. Spread on top of cake and sprinkle with nuts. Brown to a delicate brown.
