3/4 lb stew meat
8 cups water
2 potatoes peeled and cubed
2 carrots peeled and sliced
1 small onion chopped
1 c frozen corn
1 c frozen green beans
1/2 8oz can tomato sauce (or diced tomatoes)
2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 T oil

Directions:
Directions:
Brown beef and onion in large soup pot. Add water, salt and pepper and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer about 3 hours or until meat is tender. Add all vegetables and tomato sauce. Return to boiling. Cover and simmer about 30 more minutes until potatoes and carrots are cooked.

I like to use tomato sauce rather than tomatoes. We like the flavor the tomato gives the broth, but do not like the tomato pieces in the soup (especially the kids!)
